Working out our mission

Reaching out locally and around the world

Free Lunch

Many kids in Southwest Wisconsin depend upon the public school lunch program for the majority of their meals, so they often go hungry during the summer. The Summer Food Program serves free meals to children and teenagers 18 years old and under at several locations in Southwest Wisconsin. There are no financial requirements and no forms to fill out…just come and eat! Adults accompanying a child can also eat for a small price.

The Summer Food Program is Hiring!

Weekend Food

Many kids in Southwest Wisconsin depend upon the public school lunch program for the majority of their meals, so they often go hungry on the weekends. To feed those growing bodies, we offer Snack Sacks to students in the River Ridge School District area and Blessings in a Bag to those in the Boscobel Area School District. Each weekend children are given an unmarked bag with easy-to-fix foods to get them through the weekend.

Card Ministry

Sometimes a simple card can really brighten someone’s day. The Card Ministry makes homemade cards for birthdays and anniversaries, for those who are ill, grieving, or just need some encouragement. If you know of someone who would benefit from a card, please contact our office.

More than 100 million abandoned and orphaned children struggle around the world today. They live on the streets, sleeping under bridges, and in abandoned vehicles or buildings. They drink contaminated water and eat discarded food from waste containers and garbage dumps. These children are preyed upon by drug gangs, Islamic militants, sweat shops, and the child sex industry. InterHope rescues these children, giving them a home in seven orphanages around the world. Back Roads Church has supported InterHope since 2002. In 2015, Sustainable Solutions was initiated, enabling them to produce their own gardens and livestock. This makes them more self-sufficient and teaches the children valuable skills.

Throughout the year, we offer other outreaches to the communities we serve, such as the School Supply Give Away, Halloween Pit Stop, Christmas Giving Trees, Feed My Starving Children fundraisers and MobilePack, Quilting for Sleep in Heavenly Peace, financial assistance through the HELP Team and more. To serve in these outreaches or to see other volunteer opportunities, use the links above, go to our Serve page, or contact our office.
